This comforting Japanese dish combines thinly sliced beef, tofu, and shirataki noodles in a sweet-savory soy-based sauce. It’s perfect with steamed rice and great for meal prepping!
Ingredients (Serves 2–3)
- 200g (7 oz) sliced beef
- 1 block firm tofu (fried or fresh), cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1 pack shirataki noodles (parboiled and drained)
- 1/2 leek or green onion, sliced diagonally
- 3 tbsp soy sauce
- 3 tbsp sake
- 3 tbsp mirin
- 1.5 tbsp sugar
- 1/4 cup dashi (optional)
- A little water (if needed)
- Cooking oil
Instructions
- Dry-fry the shirataki noodles in a pan to remove excess moisture.

2. Add a little oil and sauté the sliced leek until softened.
3. Add the beef and cook until it changes color, then add sake, soy sauce, mirin, sugar, and dashi.

4. Add the tofu, and if needed, pour in a small amount of water.

Tip:
This dish gets even tastier the next day. Store leftovers in the fridge and reheat for an easy next-day meal.
